i have a 2000 galaxy auto and have just changed the oil and as far as i can tell the only way to see how much is in there is to drain it empty and put the correct amount back in. i hat to put 7 litres in mine but i have a 1.9 tdi i dont know if its the same amount for a 2.3 petrol.

If it drives OK and no signs of a leak don't bother. If you really, really must check it, then there is a 5mm hex plug in the sump pan. This is a spill pipe, check idling, warm, level ground. Undershield needs to be removed for access.
