replace flex Russell Hobbs 12660 steam iron?

There are two screws at the end of the iron, but removal does not allow access to the cable entry; the end plastic cover will not release.
I want to replace the flex but cannot seem to get into the thing.

Ken, I wanted to do the same with a model 12236 and I'm assuming yours might be similar.
First remove the two torex screws from the back cover.
The cover clips in vertically, so it has got to be pushed up, but where the cover bends at the top (where the flex goes in) to run smoothly on to the handle there is another clip. that unclips backwards.
The way I unclipped mine was to insert a broad bladed flat (blunt) knife underneath the cover at the bottom and carefully lift it vertically about 1/2 cm. Then move to the top and slide the blade under the front part of the cover on the top of the handle. Gently force the cover back and the top should unclip. The cover should then just lift vertically from the iron exposing the flex connects.
Best of luck
