need help with resistance testing Honda 5013?

I have a Honda 5013 tractor that won't start and my friend and I were starting to look at the CDI ignition coil and cdi unit and exciting and pulser coil and charging coil ad outline in the service manual. We noted that there was no defined range to set the ohmmeter to for some of this testing AND are trying to determine what ohmmeter would be equivalent to the listed Digital Volt-Ohmmeter-No. KS-AHM-32-003. We would greatly appreciate some direction on this OR at the very least your recommendation for what the problem probably is. Thank you!

Using a multimeter you set the range to match the expected reading - you do not say what you are trying to check - continuity/resistance (Ohms) or Voltage.

Do not try to measure Ohms on an active (live) circuit - the meter may not like it.

Ohms readings are best done with the component under test out of circuit i.e. one terminal disconnected - the reading may not be accurate otherwise.

Any old multimeter will do - they are all much of a muchness - I am unable to help you with diagnosis - sorry.

Good luck...
