How to change windshield engine on Fiat Brava?

The windshield engine on my Fiat Brava 1,8 1998 gets broken very often (has been changed 3 times on 3 years) anyone have an excplanation on that? And how do I change it myself? Getting tired of spending heaps of mony on doing it in an auto garage....
