bulb/element on both brake light remain on, they do not go brighter when the brakes are applied.
I have checked the earthing and the fuses and have joined the lines on the brake light switch. has any one got any ideas

if the brake lights are staying on then one of the switches must be connected inside either due to a fault with the switch or the way it works.disconnect each switch one at a time and see which one puts the light out if neither one does then you have a wiring fault.all the switch does is bridge the live feed from the ignition live to the thicker of the two rear light bulb elements.
