Hello, can you please help me ?! I have a 2001 ML270 auto, the gearbox started to be noisy around the 50mph sounding like a noisy wheel bearing, when it is put into neutral and let it roll there is no noise, however it is happening more often at different speeds such as 30mph. Not very loud its like a low diff whine. Thanks for any feedback.

If you drive it hard you dont hear the noise if you put it in cruise control 30, 50, 60 you get the noise. Its mainly when the car is being driven steady. To me in past experience I am questioning main shaft bearing in the gearbox ?? It is getting worse.

Without hearing it personaly This is tricky. Does the noise alter with road speed, engine speed or individual gears? Repost with results.
