hotpoint bf162?

my hotpoint dishwasher is stuck on light wash and will only drain. ie if i try to set to rinse or heavy wash the light just flashes on light wash and will not allow me to select another program. if i put water in the bottom of the washer and turn the washer on it pumps the water out but then it stops.. any ideas ?..

Hi, i have a problem with my BF162 as the 'R' led light flashes after a few seconds of washer being turned on.

Any ideas as to what this might mean, much appreciated in anticipation

Just followed D johnson's advice and it has worked a treat. Thanks so much. It has saved us at least £50.

my hotpoint BF162 dishwasher does not dissolve the tablet and hence does not clean the plates

Do as D.Johnson says, but you will need to pull the dishwasher right out and ideally have someone help you tip it backwards slightly as this makes access to the lower tray easier, the Float switch is made from polystyreen so you do have to make sure you get in there to soak all water up, as only a little will keep switch activated. Plenty of towels recommended and abit messy, but well worth the saving on a call out fee.

If the left light flashes (heavy wash) you have water in the lower tray. At some point the dishwasher has overflowed e.g. blocked sump. There is a float switch on the lower tray which activates stopping you flooding your kitchen. The pump only will run. On the lower front of your dishwasher remove two screws (effectively the bottom of the dishwasher). The base will drop allowing you acces to soak up the water with some kitchen towel.

My bf162 has just done exactly the same thing. I can start it up and it sounds ok as it punps out the water but that is as far as it gets. Seen some tips to try checking water inlet valves and solenoid so will be doing that tomorrow
