How do I calibrate my BMW 530D fuel gauge after fitting new sensors?

I have had new float sensors fitted in my BMW 530d and my fuel gauge is under-reading by just under a quarter of a tank ie I ran out with the gauge showing just under a quarter full! My mechanic says there is nothing further he can do! Is it possible to calibrate the gauge to read correctly?

To Neil Butterley: Many thanks. Do you know which of the two sensors it could be? I was advised that the offside one is the master. Is it possible to say which one is bent without having an unbent float sensor to compare with?

no, he is correct, the level sensor is in the tank, it must have been bent when fitted, it is the only, option , sorry, need to replace again !!!!!
