Hotpoint Aquarius DWF40P poss needs new 'programmer'?

Can anyone help? I've got the above dishwasher, been hardly used but has developed a fault and stopped working. I phoned Hotpoint, and they said that the two flashing lights on the front (the second and fourth light, which I think are 'wash' and 'drying') meant that the heating circuit would need to be replaced. An independent repair guy has visited and said that it's actually the programmer that needs replacing (no idea what this is but he tells me its the printed circuit board). Part will cost £140 and £70 to fit. Sounds a bit steep to me. I can't find this part anywhere else. Does anyone else know how I might fix this problem??
