Smoke coming from my drill after connecting recharged battery?

I went to use my Bosch PSB 24 VE-2 CORDLESS DRILL.,no life,I charged the battery,and when I connected it to the drill still no life but smoke coming from the back of the drill,and a smell of burning,any ideas.Regards.Mike Thomas
