How to release the rear brake calipers on a Peugeot 206 CC ?

I recently changed the front pads on my daughters 206 with the ease that I would have expected. I removed the lower caliper retaining bolt and swung the caliper up and out of the way to replace the pads. According to the Haynes manual this should be the same for the rear except that the handbrake cables need releasing as well. However, having removed the handbrake cable and removed the retaining pin; it seems that the caliper cannot then be swung anywhere as unlike the front, the brake pipes are metal all the way to the caliper - can this be done without disconnecting the brake pipes? if so can anyone advise how?

you dont need to take off handbrake cables just undo both bolts holding caliper on and gently push out of the way. the pistons turn and push back to.
