How can I fix my Acentia laptop?

My Acentia has no USB port, will it support a PC card that can provide me with USB ? I cannot reload Windows 98 unless I have USB and using a printer is also difficult because most new printers use USB. The model no- Acentia 910N laptop

i agree with terry.

That seems extremely long winded. why not use a boot up floppy or cd if your lappy doesn't have one. and install 98 that way?

I searched for information about your laptop and discovered that the company that made your laptop went out of business in 2001. There is very little information available about your machine, but I was able to find a product specs sheet (http://www.twin-cities.com/ed/asc-910.html)

According to this your machine has PCMCIA Expansion Slots which can hold: (2) Type II , or (1) Type III cards

So you should be able to find the appropriate USB adapter card for it. The only question is can your laptop support a 32-bit PCMCIA card or only a 16-bit card. (32-bit card cannot be plugged into a slot that can only accept 16-bit cards.)

A 16-bit card my be hard to find, but other then that I see no reason why it would not be able to work.

Sorry I missed the laptop bit. (In my defence, you did put your question in the desktop section.) It must be very old if it doens't have USB? My other question stands.

If it has PCI slots, it can take a PCI USB adapter card. I'm very confused about not being able to load W98 without USB though??
