How to fix stuck drop-feed lever on Cub 4?

I have just bought a used Frister & Rossman Cub 4. It sews quietly and evenly, and all the stitches are fine. But the drop feed lever won't budge from the 'up' (normal sewing) position. Any ideas how to fix it, please? (As well as for darning, it would also make changing feet a bit less fiddly.) Many thanks!

Hello Sarah,
If you look where the bobbin case is you will probably see a spindle that goes into a hole for the drop feed, that might be stuck, push the lever and at the same time move the bar that the spindle is on, make sure you put a small drop of oil on it when you have freed it off.
