Hi, it's been over a year since you posted but hopefully you got it sorted. Staying on 1???? Wow. I take it to change the setting up to 5 you were at least pushing the adjuster knob in and turning it whilst tilting the mower back slightly. There is no reason why it would not turn otherwise unless you have not pushed it in first.
