my westwood t1300 wont work?

My westwood t1300 tried to start. But then nothing except the red light on the dash that always comes on. Indicating the power. I have checked the spark plug and petrol. help

it sounds like the starter motor has gone i have just taken mine of for the same reason and all the magnet inside was smashed up
