i have a vectra c 03, runs fine and smooth. the only problem is when you press the clutch it makes a tapping noise that gets quicker when you rev but as soon as you let the clutch pedal up it goes. ive tried replacing clutch and release bearing but its still there.
any ideas?
i got the same problem they said it was crank sfhaft end float.
they say it can be the wasjer plus the crank might need regrinding and new bearings but everything else like the pistons should be fine.

I have tested the crankshaft pulley it feels fine. It has 95k miles on the clock. Just had new clutch, clutch slave cylinder and release bearing fitted. Any more ideas cheers

Grab hold of the crankshaft pulley(engine turned off),& pull & push it to check for excessive end float in the crankshaft, if you can feel excessive end float, the crankshaft thrust washers will be worn! is it high mileage?
