Sears 30" rear engine rider won't turn off with the starter key?

I have an old Sears rider that I have to choke to turn off. I replaced the starter swithch but that didn't solve the problem. I figure that the problem is in the wiring but don't know where to start to fix it. Any help is appreciated.

There should be one black wire from the ignition unit, this is the earth cut out,if you need to remove the blower housing to trace the wire, it is quite common to take this wire too a seperate switch to kill the engine, it is very very important not to allow a 12 volt supply to travel down this wire as this will fry the ignition unit
