2litre hdi picasso x-reg (2000). Recently there have been times when my car is initially spewing black smoke. Occurs mostly in the morning when faced with an uphill start, tends to wear off once it gets going. Doesn't happen every day. Any suggestions?

sounds like oil stem seals to me
get sum stop smoke an tip it in ur engine let it tick over for 5minits ( this works i used 2 bottel to make a good seal..

you cant keep driving around at 20mph in 5th gear. drive it like you stole it, 4000 revs in 1st 2nd and 3rd once a month to clear out exhaust. if someone is too close, i use this tactic to create smokescreen, they soon back off when they cant see where they are going.
