- Remove mains supply and control panel
- Disconnect batery
- Remove wires from 9 & 19
- Link 9 & 19
- Re-apply power
- Powers up with no alarm and NVM is cleared and in test mode
- remove link from 9 & 19, replace original wires
- no in factory reset condition with code 0123
- program in your code (and don't forget it!)
- do this by pressing prog from day mode, enter 0123, press 8, enter new 4 digit code, press reset, reset to exit
Job done

The battery is simply to keep the alarm powered in the event of a power cut. A duff batery would not cause an alarm condition (in the event of a power cut). Power cuts can cause alarms to trigger but can of course be turned off and reset with the code - which you've not got. You need to program a new code. To do this you need to reset the NVM and then put in the factory default code and then input your new code. I'll dig out the manula for this alarm tomorrow and let you know how to put in a new code.
