Scotguard Alarm: Disconnect backup external ringer?

Hi. We have the above key operated multi-contact alarm system (company ceased). When there's a power cut the alarm goes off...are you able to advise how to totally disconnect external 'box' battery back-up alarm which rings when power is dead? Thanks.

Don't switch off the mains when you open the control panel, just remember there is mains voltage inside (it's not 'flapping around')

Take the battery out, take it to Screwfix or Maplin & get another.

Thanks. I'll try that when the wife is out...she's worried it'll go off when i switch off the power to open control box. She just wants it 'off' altogether as it's a neighbour nuisance if we go away. Totally disconnected is the answer, we don't want it to work at all now.

Replace the faulty / duff battery in the control panel.

The outside box is just doing what is designed to do in the situation you have described
