Solid Brake Pedal problem on a Citroen Dispatch 1.9D Van (04 plate)?

Hi,

Can anyone help? We have recently purchased a Citroen Dispatch 1.9D van (04 Plate) not long after getting it home we noticed the brakes were not responding well. A week later the brake pedal went solid- very scary! We have replaced the front brake discs and pads, vacuum pump and pipe, non-return valve from pump to the servo. Still the problem persists, the brake pedal goes solid intermitantly. At present the van is totally unsafe to drive. Can anyone enlighten us on how we can rectify this fault.

Many thanks

Replaced both front to rear brake pipes and now the brake pedal starts to build pressure when pressing the pedal and brakes stop working . Any ideas

hi - on my Sharan the same symptoms were due to a split in the vacuum pipe to the servo. seems they often go as hard plastic. temp fix is self amalgamating tape but replace pipe asap of course - they ain't cheap though!

sounds liks air leak in seal on servo to check it pump brake pedal till hard keeping foot on pedal start engine and pedal should drop at least an inch or more saying that vaccum in servo ok if not servo needs replacing
