how do i replace a rowenta iron cord? it started smoking?

i have a rowenta powerglide 2 model dm253. it just started smoking one day and it's burnt near where it connects to iron. can i buy the cord somewhere and just install it? if so how? thanks, sylvia p.

Your local B&Q or Home Depot can sell you braided cord specifically for irons.
Just below the cord on the iron there should be a couple of screws. Remove these and the plate that covers the electrics.
Once you have the plate off it's as easy as rewiring a plug. Just make sure to make a note of where each wire goes before you disconnect anything inside. Take a snapshot for reference if you can.
