does anyone know how to replace the clutch cable on a Ransomes Marquis?

I cannot find out how to remove the lead nipple to the end of the cable from the slotted anchor on the side plate. Any ideas?

Did you ever get an answer or work out the solution? I've just inherited a 1972 Ransome Marquis. I've got a spare cable,but can't work out how to detach the old one from the side plate
