how can i mend my zanussi 1200 aqua cycle washing machine?

when i turn the machine on it keeps clicking but will not start the cycle programme

door lock faulty.remove plastic band/door seal from cabinet front.undo 2 screws that hold the door lock to the cabinet front.remove and unplug the electrical connector.refit new one in reverse
