Boiler pilot for Vulcan Continental?

Hi,

I have a very old system with a vulcan continental boiler. My water heats up with an electric switch, I also have a cylinder.

The problem is my boilers pilot light won't stay lit. I can ignite it but as soon as I let the Grey button go it switches off. I've tried holding it for over a minute too, but still no luck.

My system is due for a change as soon as my grant application goes through, but I desperately need to get this up an running as my house is freezing.

Can anyone please help!!!

Kind regards

I changed the thermocouple twice in 4 years and each time it fixed the problem of the pilot light going out.

you should get a corgi registered gas engineer to look at your boiler if you are not qualified to mend it yourself!

If the pilot light is good where it is heating the tip of the thermocouple the problem is probably the thermocouple requires renewing. This can be replaced with a universal type which are only a couple of pounds. If the pilot light is poor remove the pilot jet and give it a clean.
