I have a smeg gas hob which has been working brilliantly, today I had a new worktop and the kitchen fitter has replaced the hob but now the ignition won't work. Have checked ALL the connections on the plug, socket, and inside the hob and nothing has been damaged or is loose in any way. Non of the rings ignite at all. Any ideas???

The electronic ignition on my smeg gas hob will not stop trying to ignite the burners. Have tried moving the stem which the cap fits to but to no avail. Do you have to take the hob off the work surface to repair or is it now defunct?
