Doesn't start the engine?

My Eager 1 Craftsman 6.25 HP is working fine. However, while I was using it, the blade hit a hard metal on the ground then the motor suddenly stop. I tried to start again, first it start for a few seconds and it stop. Now I cannot start anymore. Did I damage the motor (Tacumseh engine) when I hit the hard metal? Pls advise...

I would agree, it may well have sheared the flywheel key, remove the flywheel nut and you will see from the top if the key has moved. The key is alloy and designed to shear to protect the crank
