my punto has been stood for 3 years i have now got in on the road and it passed an MOT but now there is crackling and the gears are playing up. it wouldn't let me select 3rd and when its in 1st 2nd (and now 3rd) it is screaming. my boyfriend thinks the gearbox oil needs changing but i'm not too sure. can anyone help pleeaasssseee

could be clutch plate sticking on the splines of 1st motion shaft if it has been standing for a long time,would try and give it a good run with plenty gear changes if you can,good luck

Sounds like the centre bearing for the clutch could be the problem. Its hard to say without seeing the car in person. Is the clutch pedal hard to press down?
