I have not used the flymo for over six months but it wont start thou there is petrol in the tank. The rip cord doe's not seem too be firing up the motor.

Drain all of the old fuel from the tank and the carburetor. The fuel might have gotten water in it or just become destabilized. Replace the the spark plug and retry starting.
