Its very difficult to explain exactly how it fits in words, but will have a go, the shorter looped end of the spring fits around the front of the trigger itself, the cresent shaped part of the spring loops aroung the plastic upstand in the handle, it does not compress the spring as you would imagine, it actually opens the spring out, not how you would expect it to work, once in place you have to get the two halfs of the handle back together.
