Engine will fire but not run?

I've been having problems with my Briggs and Stratton 42 cm mower Laser by Mountfield. After priming, the engine will fire but not run. It appears to burn the fuel that has been pumped into the carb by priming but then stops. I've checked plug, oil and air filter, all are ok. Any help or tips please as my grass is getting way to long and I'm starting to lose the dog.!!

Will do Patrick, thanks..

check the fuel line, with age they can collapse and kink.

Thanks bubbafw, I tried that and it has worked. There must've been some debris in there.
The engine runs, but not well. I'll try to keep it running and get some fresh fuel as well, hopefully it'll run better..

Thanks again

sounds like the carb.needs to be clean make sure you clean the holes in the bowl screw the one that goes straight down and the one on the side use a small wire to clean them good.hope this helps.
