Cannot set 1280x1024 resolution in Windows 7?

I have a ATI Rage 128 video card in a PC. With Windows 7 I cannot set the screen resolution to 1280x1024. When I do the monitor blanks because the mode is not supported. Do I need to use a different driver for the video card? (Windows has assigned a default driver.)

Is there any way around this? Is there a more up-to-date driver which will work?

I don't play games and so don't need a high performance from the graphics card. I find it a bit annoying to have to pay £50 to buy a new one just to improve the screen resolution.

I would normally direct you to download the correct drivers from the manufacturer's web site (www.amd.com) but I suspect that your won't get Windows 7 drivers for that card. Good luck.
