vax rapide carpet washer will not spray out water

I have cleaned the sponge and added water to the tank to flush the machine but water still wont come out. How do I flush the vax ultra 2carpet washer?

Because the small round foam filter at base of the clean water tank rest needs washing out. Lift it out with the aid of a screwdriver and rinse it hot water, replace it and Bob's your uncle. Rinse the machine by raising the brushes off the floor, after filling with a half litre of hot water, switch on and flush all the pipe work out, a dry run ?
