High River, Water in My engine, what to do??

I just crossed a river and i think i have water in my diesel engine. The car did not cut off. It ran through the river, but I am scared because water began pouring through the hood of the car. What should I do to make sure I don't ruin my engine by restarting and blowing the engine??

remove heater plugs and turn over engine by hand to pump any water out, remove air filter and renew if it is soaking, refit heater plugs and pray when you try and start it,could be a very expensive mistake.
