You most likely have a connection problem causing your powermate to be intermittant. Carefully inspect the wand cord, handle connector on the hose, and cord connecting the lower want to the powermate unit. Connections get corroded/ burned/ damaged/ worn over time. I have seen the lower cord get frayed on these and cause problems. If everything appears okay, check the swivel (part of the hose that plugs into the canister unit). Swivel it side to side to see if the powermate goes on and off. Inspect the cord on the swivel (if it is a 180 model). If you need any more help, e-mail us at arctic@worldlynx.net.
