Hygena gas hob will not ignite?

I had a 4 burner Hygena hob, with elelctric ignition fitted over 10 years ago. The company that supplied it gave me a spare hob with all the attachements.\r\n
The old hob ignitor, and burners need to be replaced so I simply fitted the new hob - it was very straight forward. Unfortunately the new ignitor will not spark.

Could this simply be that it is too old or is there some other possibility. I have checked the fuse etc and power is getting to the unitl under the hob

Thanks
