How do I replace the brakes on my '02 murray mower 40507x8c?

I need to replace the brakes on my '02 Murray Riding Mower 40507x8c and cannot find my owners manual. It is a 12.5 hp 40-42" cut.

Why don't you try just tightining the nut that holds the brake actuator. Just give a couple of turns then try. If its to tight back off. I think its 1/2 inch nut very acessable from right rear on trans axle.

Most ride on mowers have only a gearbox brake, it is a disc on the side of the box with two small brake blocks, an off set arm pushes the blocks against the disc to act as a brake it is a fairly simple afair, these parts are usually only available from the gearbox manufacturer
