am unable to put my mondeo estate 2.0l 16v into reverse gear. someone said it was the selecter for 5th and reverse that needs replacing, but i can still get 5th gear, it just jumps out after driving for over an hour in 5th.
So asuming its the gear linkage. Had a play got it nearly right, any ideas?

Fixed it!!! just hit it wiv hammer!!! For anyone in similar situation the gear box fluid was extremely low, and so filled it up took it for drive to lubricate the gears! came home and hit the syncromesh unit lightly toward reverse gear and went it no probs!!
