neff u1562 display strip?

Hello,
I have a integral NEFF U1562. The display strip for the main oven seems to have split and I only see 4 orange lights. How do i replace the broken strip with a new one?
Gordon, July 2010
I have found it impossible to release the actual film strip assembly from the housing, even though the oven is out on a workbench and everything is accessible. I have tried getting advice from Neff but they haven't a clue. They even asked me if the U15672 is gas!!

I first purchased my Neff U1562 built in double oven in 1998 and it still operates perfectly!! I have loved it, kept it in tip top clean condition and it has laboured well. It has had several repairs over the years, but I have always insured my goods, and have continued to enjoy the delights of this appliance with all the functions it still has to offer. The display strip however, has been repaired oh so many times, I considered it an absolute foregone conclusion to be a design fault. My insurers have continued to insure with no hassle, but finally, this part is now obsolete and my insurers wrote off my loyal appliance in August 2020!! Not bad for 22 years old eh? If anyone out there still owns one of these magnificent appliances, ancient it may be, you cannot repair the display strip, you really cannot because it has become brittle with the heat. If the appliance works well, and you can forgive not having a visual indication of the temperature, use your imagination and feel. Even insert a thermometer in the cavity. If you cook a lot, you will soon understand the temperature with your eyes closed!! Hopefully!! Or simply give in and purchase another oven.!

To Paul and Phil. Did joining with tape last or did it just break again/melt or whatever. Ours is about fifteen years old and has broken, so can't use the fan oven atm. Seems a lot of money to replace, and hubby is fairly competent, so is it worth a shot at repairing?

Same problem here - looks like the tape degrades and goes crispy with age & a bit of heat. Seperate part numbers for all 4 units though, so you should only have to buy as required - oddly Neff's e-store seems to be the cheapest place for them I've found so far.
I'll try opening it up and fixing it forst though - can't resist a challenge!

You do not have to replace both, they are easy to remove and i repaired mine by re-joining with clear tape. before working on unit turn off power to remove unit take out two screws holding oven display unit (underneath at extreme right and left of unit) pull out unit, undo screw holding assy for both film display units, pull back metal assembly disconnet led wires and remove complete unit. film display units can now be taken out individually. split broken unit with a fine screwdriver and repir film with tape(like joining old 35mm film) then rebuild

I hope you're insured - they cost about £60 each and both have to be replaced - our u1562 is just over 10 years old and we've gone through several of these switches - the insurance company now refuses to insure the oven - and today another set have gone kaput. The last technican send it was a design fault.
