my vauxhall vectra 1996 2.0 ltr gls keeps cutting out?

I have had the air flow metre replaced which appeared to solve the problem for a while. The car cuts out intermittently when i slow down or stop but then starts again straight away. I have been told it can be the idle valve or the cam sensor. How do i determine which it is cheaply. (I only have engine light on when has cut out, therefore diagnostics check keeps telling me there is nothing wrong).

It is defently not the cam sensor as it is part of the engine mangement system and it will light up the mangement light if it was the cam sensor. The other chap is right, its the idle control valve.

check the relays under the bonnet there is one that is renowned for bad solder joints but you will have to cut it open to check
