Bypassing of filter suppressor safe?

Hi,

I have a candy condenser dryer I bought secondhand a while back, the suppressor capacitor fited to the plug wires inside it blew (Loud bang and tripped MCB each time it was switched on afterwards), I read and tried out a quick fix here which invlved bypassing the suppressor into a 3-way connector block and putting in new earth from connector block to machine casing, I really need the machine and am wondering is it safe to run while bypassed until I get new suppressor??

please reply and info very much appreciated

Yes, the suppressors are only fitted by law to block intererence, similar to a micro-filter on your telephone line for internet access, the suppressor is simply a capacitor that stores at max 2microfarads and they do fail, just ensue when bypassing that the earth you fit is strong and robust and cannot loosen through vibration, but to be safe fit a new supressor when possible and as with all capacitors observe the correct polarity
