I have a grinding noise & burning smell coming from the cannister .. I am having difficulty taking the cover off. Have remove 2 screws, however I can not figure how to get the back part (the cord recoil part area) . Is there trade secret on how to get to this screw or is it a snap on kind of connection? Would appreciate the help and advice here.

Depends on model--2100 has two plastic strips--trim that hold it all together.--open the bag door -and slide the two strips to the open end --that should do it- then very carefully-seperate the two halves-making note if any wires or hoses come off-- ---cheers,
