A virus is a small program that once on your machine causes it to act in ways that are undesirable. They are common in many downloaded files and they are called virus because they try to replicate themselves. Damn annoying. Some come in though email too and they can prevent hardware working properly, even use your computer to send email!

This is why an anti virus program is important. I recommend Grisofts AVG. A free version is available (avgfree) for home users (free.grisoft.com) and it is excellent.

by definition a virus is any program harmless or not that replicates its self. Spyware is software that monitors what you do with your computer. There are many free programs to help protect yourself

A virus is a program created by some one who likes to hack into peoples computers.A virus attacks your whole computer by crashing it,deleted and sending files through the internet without permission,watching what you type in,finding out credit card numbers.Any infomation on your pc is open to a virus unless you have whats called a firewall,or an antivirus program like Mcfee©.There is another type of virus and thats called spyware.But this one basically is an advertisement program and can work in some ways as a virus.Hope this helps.
