Use a small paintbrush to get whie PVA Glue into the joints

Wind a double length of rope around the area of the joint in such a way that when you place a small bar of wood or a screwdriver between the pieces of rope - and wind it up like a tourniquet - so that force is applied to the joint(s).

Place a piece of cardboard between the rope and any parts of the chair you need to protect - the forces on the rope may damage the wood else.

Good luck...
