gearbox trouble?

Hi

I have just recently purchased a vectra 2.2 dti (auto) on a 53 plate.
the gear seems to change randomnly and abruptly when the temperature is normal causing the car to jerk at low revs.

I am quite worried. your advice would be much appreciated.

Thankyou in advance

Its unlikely to be an ATF level problem. Low ATF would have trouble picking up drive worse cold. All the shift points are electronically controlled. So check with live data, throttle position sensor, range sensor, input and output sensors. If the shifts are at correct time and just hard then its soleniods. This transmission suffers with coolant contamination leading to failure. specialist in your area www.fedauto.co.uk

could be not enough transmisson fluid, check gearbox sump seal is ok,i would drain out fluid, and fill with the correct amount of new fluid, start car, and with brakes on, go though gears to allow fluid to settle thoughout gears. if this does not work, you might need the services of an automactic transmisson mechanic. not cheap so good luck.

hope it helps, July 2010
