no gary dont buy a new switch gear for that problem mate it just needs fixing i have done hundreds of them like that.firstly get a small drill bit about 2.5 - 3mm and drill a hole in the part that the pin has broken off of,then get a self tapping screw thats a good fit in the hole and work out how long it need to be to go into the hole far enough to be secure and also poke out enough for it to go into the hole in the handlebar, then put the screw in a vice and saw around it at the point it needs to be cut to so its alot thinner there bacically so its thinner at the point that it needs to be cut to ,then screw it into the hole you drilled and do it up until it breaks where you cut it or screw it in as far as you like and then break the screw off at the weak point with some pliers, easy as that.also check that the handlebar grip)rubber part) isnt touching the bar end weight as they snag on them and stop the throttle from returning too.if it is take the bar ebd weight off and space it from the grip using some washers.

Gary, like you said I think you answered it. Usual posts here give no information but yours gave answers as well! :-) Hail to gary!

just to add...... i have taken the bolts out of the back of the switch and held it together with my hand and it now springs back closed on looking at the housing there is a locating dowel (plastic thing) that has snapped off so i guess as i have to tighten the two screws to hold the housing to the bar tighter than i would if it was locating correctly i am taking the "spring" out of the twistgrip hhhmmmm figure i need a new switchgear guess i have just answered my own question lol feel free to correct me if am wrong cheers again
