any one know how to fix a cuckoo clock?

i have a genuine german cuckoo clock the clock works perfect but the little bird cuckoos at different times i no it needs adjusting but not sure how to do it.

allow the clock to strike, count the number of times it does this,now rotate the hr hand round to this new position the hrs are now set, on next hr allow it to strike the hr note where the minute finger is,
1 remove the small nut holding the finger the finger may drop indicating this type is not on a spline refit at approximately the hr position job done .
2 if the finger is fitted on a spline gently tease off the spline and line up and refit back on at the hr position, (have known these type to be split,allowing the finger to drop, ( a new finger needed)
