indicator fault?

my left indicator comes on of its own accord even when the indicator lever has not been pressed down.help nearly caused a few crashes as people think i am turning left and pull out on me.peugeot 206 gti.

The indicator switch as you call it is rather more than that, called a COM2000. Yes, you need a new one.
