why is my astra slow up hills?

i have just got a vauxall astra 1997 it was a bit slow at taking of at juctions and i noticed that the hair was coming out of the back box so i had this replaced and and it is better but it is really slow going up hills and i am having to give it some revs to get it up the hill does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it?

when it is up to speed its fine so i dont think its the clutch cus its not over reving like when a clutch is on the way out

I have had clutch problems (worn out needing replacement) on just 2 cars in my driving lifetime - each time loss of power when taking hills was the first symptom I noticed.

You car may have clutch problems...
