Electric Cooker Beko DC5422 keeps breaking down?

We bought a new model of electric cooker, as above (Beko DC5422), about 6 weeks ago. Brand new, from Argos.
Mid meal-cook one night after we'd had it a few weeks, the back right ring stopped working.
Next day, we noticed the oven had stopped working too.
Everything else worked OK, the other rings and the grill.
We phoned Beko under the guarantee and a man came out.
He fixed the problems and said the culprit was a fuse that was connected to both the ring and the oven and in fact it was probably the oven that had gone first and taken the ring out.
2 weeks later I turn the cooker on at the wall and again the oven is not working! And the same ring!
I'm wondering if there's a problem with the electrics in the wall (my mum said she had a cooker once and the rings kept going and a dead mouse was found lying on some wires somewhere) or something? Or is it just a faulty cooker. I have no clue about electrics..
Any suggestions? Thanks

Bought dc5422 oct 2010 had to get it replaced in nov 2010 because the ring rear ring and oven stopped working. Had to get an engineer out in June 2011 because of same fault. He said that this was always happening. He replaced thermal switch. Now 5th may 2013 the same fault has occurred. Rang beko told by Gemma at head office that they know nothing about this fault and aren't interested. If I wanted to challenge under The Sale of Goods Act then it is Boots responsibility because they sold me it. I have contacted Watchdog and would urge anyone else who have had the misfortune to deal with beko to do the same

Thank you to the people that have pointed out the solution!

We have exactly the same problem with the oven going and the rear right hob! I have spoken to Beko who passed me from pillar to post and as the oven is out of warranty they didn't care and even more annoyingly denied all knowledge of a common fault even though I told them about the various forums all filled up with people that have reported the same issue.....

I for one will tell everyone NOT to even consider purchasing a Beko product not just for their lack of customer service but also the obvious reliability issues!

Thanks to your question I found the answer I was looking for. My beko oven is 3 years old but had the same problem. I went online and purchased a thermal cut out and now it works. Originally we thought it was the higher one on the right hand side but soon realised it is the one lower down - the higher one is for the grill.

I have had my beko cooker (DC 5422) for 3 years and have had no end of problems with it. I also bought from argos. I wouldnt recommend this cooker to anyone infact its the 2nd beko model i've had in 6 years and both were awful. I used my cooker for the last time a week ago as was alerted to the smell of burning plastic only to find the cooker was billowing out thick smoke from the back! I was lucky to catch it when I did. In the first 5 months of having it a wire got melted in the back, the indicator light covers popped out and the bulbs fell out of place and cracks in the paint started to appear. The paint soon began to flake off and rust appeared. The back of my cooker is all burnt and rusted it looks like its been melting the paint work for many months. The lip that sticks out above the grill fell off and went completely rusty which was removed a year in. I am terribly disappointed as this was an expensive cooker when I bought it. I am now wisely investing in another brand!

The Same thing Happened to me 18 months after purchase in the middle of cooking the back right ring and oven stopped working and Beko told me if it was that much of ta problem the product would have been recalled. I will be making a very long complaint

We have had our beko dc5422 for just over the yearand it stopped working in the middle of cooking the dinner.Again it was the back right ring and the oven. Unsure if we can do anything as outwith the warenty by a month

Jb, February 2012
Think yourselves lucky it only stopped working. The back right ring on my Beko cooker stuck on, when the ring was turned off and no one was home. If we hadn't returned to hear the fire alarm going off it would have set fire to the house. A very near thing. Please make sure you turn off your Beko cooker at the wall before going out.

Similar issues as listed are happening with our Beko cooker model D531.

Sue, March 2011
First it stopped working 4 months after purchase - right back ring + light indicators + oven +rill. Now, after 18 months, that is out of warranty, the same happened again. I called beko uk and insisted that reoccurring problem is a manufacturer problem - do you remember how Apple lost court case with iphone warranty- and as a good will they agreed to pay for the parts but i have to pay for the labour! They effing know that parts cost nothing. And from this forum I can see what a rubish the company is!

I have beko cooker as well and last night my over glass which is supposed to be heat resistance has exploded all over kitchen. Which was very dangerous if someone was in the kitchen, but likely no one was there. Will be contacting watchdog and beko. Very dangerous and not safe.

our oven had the same fault just a week after purchase in september. I phoned Beko and got the gist that they know of the problem as the operator told me which ring wasn't working! The engineer fixed it in 5 minutes. It just gone again a week before christmas day! :( Currys tell me that i can't accept a repair and then exchange it. Is this correct? Because as far as i and alot of others on here are concerned this product is totally unreliable.

Damo, December 2010
i must be lucky had mine two years and the small rings have stopped working. mind i have not used much. will not buy Beko again, wished i had seen this problem page before i purchased.

sue, December 2010
Had mine a week and a half and exactly the same issue has happened. Shocking. we've got a housewarming party tomorrow and have bought loads of pizzas, and hot buffet food. Now we can't even cook it due to the crap workmanship of Beko.

I'm not impressed with 365 Electricals either, because if I find out that they are aware of this fault, I won't be best pleased.

Lee Maddocks, November 2010
I've had mine for 5 days, the over and the back right ring wont work. The same model as above. I will need to phone beko now and I only activated my warrantly last night!!!

I bought a Beko DC5422S in July 2010 and two weeks after delivery the oven and rear right plate stopped working. Dixons replaced it with the same model at the end of August and today, just two months after delivery of the new cooker, the same problem has occurred. Beko have agreed to repair it in a week's time but astonishingly deny any knowledge of a design fault. I would have preferred a refund so I could have bought a reliable cooker as I do not want to be saddled with this model, especially after the guarantee expires. Legally I would like to know where I stand.

Jeanne Hawkins, October 2010
beko is what we in the trade a very budget cooker.

mm, October 2010
read the sale of goods act,you can find it on internet, you dont have to accept any repair to a new appliance, you can get either your money back,or an exchange product,a lot of companies hit you with a 28 day rule,i.e.its over 28 days, you must have a repair done, this is rubbish, they are trying it on.print the soga and have a good read, and if you have too, show them it in print,i worked for hoover for nearly twenty years as a field engineer, and came across this time and time again

mm, October 2010
Thanks jojaden and everyone else for your comments.
Same thing has happened with our cooker for THIRD time!
I have health probs and this is so stressful, going to contact Argos tomorrow.
As for passing people to Beko, isn't it up to the retailer, not the manufacturer, by law, to sort this sort of thing out??
They will be getting a link to this page!

Eileen Quinn, October 2010
mine just went excactly the same as everyone esle halfway through cooking a roast the oven ring has gone 2 had mine 2 weeks a rubbish product beko should recall them back

richard brice, September 2010
Yes the Termal cut off swich has gone again just after 2 weeks of being replaced. Its meant to reset its self.
Straight onto Argos and said lost faith in product and either Full refund or a replacement of a different brand.
My wife just had a 40th on the 9th so we had to go out for eating instead of the big party cooking in over the 2 days.
Told Argos they will be repaying the meal which i have the reciept £155 to be exact!
U have to have the enginneer out to fix the oven then get back to Argos or whoever for that matter. This is bad workman ship or an inadequate thermal cut off switch (Genuine Beko THERMAL CUT-OUT:210110544)
This is the stock no for more info.
Hope this helps

Jojaden, September 2010
Phoned Argos and without telling me put me straight through to Beko at 5.30 on a Thursday. They stop at 5.30!!
Got them on Friday and Beko said it was a common fault and a Thermal blah blah fuse required.
I have lost faith in this product and with searching the web on this model the fuse can blow again.
Am thinking if it blows outwith the warranty your stuck with a cooker with a common problem that Argo know about.
E-mailing Argos as i'm not happy with this situation.
Will let u know what happens.

Jojaden, August 2010
My cooker has just got those symptoms right now. Back right ring and oven.
Everything else works!
My mates an electrician and says with the number of faults showing up do not accept a repair but either a new one or different model.

Jojaden, August 2010
We just got the same fault. It's obviously a design fault as there are so many reports of exactly this fault to this model on the web. Anyone managed to sort it yet?

Sandra, August 2010
I also have the same problem, the oven stopped heating whilst in use and when I checked the rest of the cooker ....the rear right hand ring was not working either......I bought mine 2 months ago!!

Gill, August 2010
